What does your role involve
My role involves providing friendly HR support to line managers and employees of University of York Student’ Union / Student Associations (YUSU). I also provide advice on organisational policies and procedures, recruitment processes and line manage Helpdesk team.

What’s the best thing about it?
I like working in fast pace environment, every day is different at the Students’ Union / student associations, I enjoy being involved in additional duties: Election Week, Fresher’s Week and Arrivals Weekend and our big events like Summer Ball and Roses.

How did you get here?
I used to work for York St John Students’ Union / student associations, I started as a HR Graduate Assistant, initially for 6 months looking at various projects such as development of the Competency Framework and Investors in People Accreditation, following successful recruitment I was appointed as a HR Coordinator at York St John Students’ Union / student associations.

What’s was the most helpful piece of learning you picked up along the way?
Living organisational values, especially here at YUSU one of our values is for, with and by students, so everything what we do we always put our students first!
