Job Description

The Student Voice and Representation Lead is the operational heart of the Students’ Union’s advocacy function. This is a new and pivotal role responsible for leading, building, and professionalising how student representation, advocacy, and democracy operate across the University.

The post holder’s primary focus is to support and enable elected student representatives, including Sabbatical Officers, Part-Time Officers, and Class Representatives, to be effective, confident, and well-informed. Acting as the central source of advice, coordination, and institutional knowledge, you will ensure representatives are equipped with the training, insight, and practical support needed to meaningfully influence decision-making.

As the Lead, you will provide high-quality research, policy, and briefing support to the SU Executive, translating student feedback into clear, evidence-based outputs that influence University policy. You will also lead the day-to-day delivery of representation systems, democratic processes, and elections, playing a key role in implementing changes arising from the Democracy Review. As a newly created post, this description is just the starting line. The role will naturally evolve alongside our Democracy Review, adapting to our needs and the personal approach you bring to the table.
