Job Description

We have four fantastic opportunities for the student leaders of today to become the senior leaders of tomorrow.

We’ll offer you a structured program to progress rapidly, underpinning all the leadership skills you have with the tools and professional working practice to get your career off to a flying start. You’ll be coached and supported through development opportunities, gaining a breadth of experience and building networks and connections to take your career to the next level.

Join MDXSU to accelerate your career and unlock your management potential.

As part of the scheme we offer:

  • Access to a Masters level qualification with Middlesex University
  • Accredited professional development
  • High quality management training
  • Leadership development coaching
  • On the job learning, matching your future career ambitions with real world opportunities to grow and demonstrate your skills to future employers
  • Coaching from a member of the MDXSU Senior Leadership Team
  • Mentorship from a Students’ Union senior leader from another students’ union
  • The opportunity to gain professional project experience outside of your core area of specialism, from working across different departments to opportunities to undertake project work within the University or even a different students’ union depending on your future career path
  • The ability to grow your salary and your seniority quarterly through our structured Progression Framework, helping you to develop all the skills and attributes required to advance your career
  • Max Flex working – a fully flexible working culture with core hours to be worked across 8-8, Mon-Sun as works for you and MDXSU, with significant flexibility of where and when you work during University vacation weeks

What are we looking for:

We are looking for the future senior staff leaders of the student movement, youth work and the third sector. Your journey will be shaped by your personal development plan, built around your future career ambitions and the areas in which you already excel. We’ll help you develop the competencies, experience, communities and skills necessary to grow through your first role into senior management.

You may be just finishing your time as an officer and looking for your next steps to work within students’ unions. You could be a society leader or community organiser wanting to work full time in the student movement. You might even be a few years out of education, or have never studied, but be excited about the potential to start a career in SUs.

We are looking for excellent candidates with an interest in developing a specialism across a range of areas we work on within students’ unions – including student voice, community development, data and insight and organisational development.
