Job Description

About NUASU

The Students’ Union at Norwich University of the Arts represents and passionately supports over 2,800 students. As a small yet ambitious organisation, NUASU is on the brink of a transformation.

Our aim is to become the best small and specialist union in the UK. With a small and passionate staff and Officer team, our drive and determination stem from our core values: representation, democracy, sustainability, and equity. We pride ourselves in having a unique, student-driven culture, and it’s important that we maintain this as we grow and evolve.

2022-23 was a year of significant development for us. From the massive boost in our grant allocation to the establishment of our first-ever Advisory Board, we have an exciting future ahead. As we progress, our vision includes a more robust full-time team and wider representation through our liberation officers. Our Steering Committee, paired with the new Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Committee, promises to make our student-centric approach even better.

About the Role

This isn't just any role; it's the chance to be NUASU's first-ever Managing Director. We’re looking for a leader with an inclusive mindset, full of brilliant ideas, to work hand-in-hand with our talented student leaders. Together, we’ll establish a high-performing students’ union and an impactful charity.

Your first year with us will involve collaborating with our supportive Advisory Board, University stakeholders, and student leaders. Together, you'll draft and implement a strategic plan, setting out our purpose and focus for the coming years.

The role needs someone who's adaptable and innovative, with emotional intelligence and a real passion for democracy and representation. You'll need to have the skills to balance guiding our day-to-day operations with steering our strategic vision.

At NUASU, we believe in mutual growth. As we evolve, we'll ensure your role, pay, and benefits do too. We see this position as the perfect platform for an ambitious leader to make their mark - transforming our organisation, learning lots along the way and becoming an important part of NUASU’s history.

NUASU is part of an inclusive community that offers equality of opportunity and enables staff and students to flourish and succeed, regardless of their background or personal circumstances. Our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in everything that we do, and our new Managing Director will be central to ensuring that continues. We celebrate the diversity of our backgrounds, cultures, and actions, and our vision is to empower our staff, student leaders and volunteers to discover their unique talents and reach their potential.

Closing Date: Wednesday 18th October at 10am

First Stage Interviews: 1st & 2nd November

Final Interviews: Week Commencing 6th November
