About us
Leeds University Union (LUU) exists to make sure students love their time at Leeds. It is a not-for-profit charity run by members (students), for members (students). We are an independent organisation that exists to represent students and their interests to the university, as well as on a local and national scale, giving them a voice on the things that matter to them. LUU operates a wide range of services and opportunities from clubs and societies, to large scale events, spaces to eat, drink and meet, engage, campaign and learn.
We’re led by a group of officers elected by the student body, and our charitable status means that every penny of profit we make goes straight back into improving things for our members. Our trustee board, which includes 6 elected student officers, is supported by over 150 full-time staff members, 500 student members of staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
About the role
We're looking for a bold, innovative HR leader whose priority is the employee experience and challenging the status quo on all things people, culture and HR. If you are motivated by empowering others, bringing fun in all that you do and are deeply committed to building inclusive organisations, we want to hear from you!
LUU’s current priority is to embed its strategy for 2022-2026 and enable staff to truly deliver. After experiencing growth as an organisation, the SU is seeking an ambitious leader who can grow and develop the culture and transform the employee experience.
Transforming the employee experience at LUU is a unique opportunity, as doing so will not only shape current employees, but will shape students’ careers forever. As the standard will be set on what good culture, employee experience and HR will look like for our student staff. There are also exciting opportunities to define what inclusion, the future of work, leadership and high performance mean for LUU, so our new Director will bring a people first mindset, and HR business acumen to the role.
The successful candidate will be an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering leader, with high levels of emotional intelligence and a genuine passion for innovation and inclusion. They will also have experience in building and maintaining strong, influential relationships at all levels of an organisation. This role will require an innovative and bold mindset, helping us to try new and creative ways of engaging with and empowering our people.
