Job Description
Hours of work: 35 hours a week
Reporting to: Head of Membership Services
Responsible For: Student Council Members & Election Candidates
Place of Work: Wrexham Students’ Union, Plas Coch Campus, Wrexham, North Wales, LL11 2AW
Salary: Scale: O&A 3, point 15 £24,975 per annum
Type of contract: Full Time, permanent.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to manage the democratic functions of the Union and monitor its effectiveness. You will be responsible for delivery of democratic programs and events with the focus on annual elections and by-elections. The role also includes supporting and delivering campaigns led by the Membership Team. Other responsibilities include collaborating and supporting with the Annual SU Awards and coordinating weeklong campaigns such as Wellbeing Week and Go Green Week along with working towards national accreditations linked to the role such as Green Impact.

Duties

Elections
|
- Administration and coordination of the entire annual election cycle, including nomination processes, candidate briefings, campaigning, voting and results announcements.
- Implement strategies to increase student participation and engagement in the elections.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records relating to elections.

Student Council
|
- Provide administrative support to the Student Council including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and taking minutes.
- Design and delivery of a comprehensive training package for council members to enhance their understanding of democratic processes.
- Help develop and implement initiatives to encourage Student Council members to have an active involvement in decision-making processes.
- Monitor and report data & Impact monthly, information to be included in the monthly student engagement trackers to be shared with the whole team.
- Develop reports for University Committees and Board of Trustees.
- Attend relevant University Committees when required.

Campaigns
|
- Support and assist elected officers in the development and execution of their campaigns, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
- Will offer expertise in utilising various campaign tools and platforms, supporting with campaign strategies and planning events.
- Evaluate campaign outcomes and impact.

Other Duties
|
- Develop and implement initiatives to encourage students’ participation in democratic activities such as referendums, consultations and focus groups.
- Monitor and manage budgets allocated to democratic activities, ensuring cost effective use of resources.
- Collaborate with other members of the Students’ Union Staff to align democratic initiatives with the overall strategic goals.

- To embed sustainable practises when undertaking all duties.
- Carry out duties at other sites of the University when required.
