Job Description

As Communications Specialist, you'll support the day-to-day operations of the Union’s Digital, Membership, and Marketing department, with a focus on enhancing stakeholder engagement and creating impactful communications that resonate with students.

You’ll help shape how the Students’ Union communicates, managing and growing our social media presence (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn) and crafting campaigns that that cut through the noise, you’ll help us build stronger, more meaningful connections with students. Your work will provide valuable insights into the student experience, using feedback and trends to guide our communication strategies.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Supporting and executing internal and external communications across a range of platforms, with a focus on digital and social media.
  • Managing and developing our social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn) to engage, inform, and inspire students.
  • Track trends and platform performance to refine our tone of voice and digital presence.
  • Support internal and external communications across digital, email, and advertising.
  • Responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Union’s Digital, Membership and Marketing department with a particular focus on stakeholder engagement & communications
  • Assist in delivering campaigns that promote UPSU’s services, events, and student achievements.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including student groups, Elected Officers, and university departments.
  • Using data and feedback to track impact and continuously improve how we communicate with our members.

This role is perfect for someone creative, organised, digitally-savvy, and passionate about engaging with students.

The Person

  • Confident understanding of marketing and communications processes and systems
  • Experience in using email management and social media analytics
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects across different department
  • Capable of using their initiative within their day to day role responsibilities
  • Able to think outside the box in order to reach own goals and to contribute to the Union’s strategic objectives
