About the role:

You'll be working in our Communications and Engagement Team, supporting the wider Union team and student leaders to ensure we're communicating effectively. You'll lead on social media for the Union, support a small team of student staff and help deliver campaigns, projects and activities.

Main responsibilities:

To assist and support the creation, development and implementation of our student communications, working closely with the full Union team.

  • Support the Union's understanding of our members by developing effective two-way communication between the Union and its members
  • Collate and edit email newsletters, ensuring consistent tone of voice
  • Lead on designing and delivering engaging content across the Union’s different channels, including social media, website and printed material.
  • Provide project management and communications support for the Union's campaigning activity, ensuring that all campaigns are properly planned and delivered to have maximum impact
  • Support the Communications and Engagement Team in delivering activities including student-facing campaigns and projects
  • Support our elected student leaders to achieve their manifesto commitments through communication channels and in-person.
  • Provide advice and guidance across the organisation to enable others to create engaging digital media and content
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the University to support each other’s projects, and ensure our work is communicated across Oxford Brookes
  • Assist the Head of Comms and Engagement in the evaluation of the performance of the Union’s communication channels and campaigns
  • Liaise with external suppliers (printers, merchandise, etc) to produce branded material for use in campaigns and events
  • Supervise a small team of student staff, who support the Union in delivering face-to-face activities, as well as content creation
