Coventry University Students’ Union is a charity dedicated to improving the experience of students at the Coventry University Group, operating across 7 campuses in Scarborough, London and Coventry.

As the Central Operations and Governance Manager, you will be essential in ensuring the effective management and development of central business functions as well taking a proactive lead in the development of our governance processes. Roughly half of your role will focus on providing efficient and proactive administrative and operational support, as well as the development of digital solutions and process efficiencies within the organisation. The other half of your role will focus on governance to support and develop our trustees and trustee board. You will manage a Coordinator to assist you in the delivery of the team objectives.

Our ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, demonstrating a solid understanding of operational administrative functions and governance experience. You will need to be highly organised with demonstrable experience of managing multiple workstreams with conflicting demands and deadlines. You’ll have strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You must have a high standard of written and verbal communication skills and embrace the use of new technology in the advancement of efficient administration processes. In addition, you will be a positive people manager; used to working and leading small yet effective teams to achieve results.

Key duties

  • Overall management and development of central business processes, IT and administration to keep the organisation running smoothly.

  • Planning and managing the annual cycle of business for the Board of Trustees and sub committees.

  • Proactive lead in the development of governance for the Students’Union, including the recruitment, induction and ongoing training of trustees.

  • Management of the Central Operations and Governance Coordinator

Working Hours and Location

This post is a permanent role and is available as a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). We are open to accepting applications from candidates looking for a reduced hours contract, although a minimum of 4 days a week will be required. As an organisation, we have an agile working programme which supports some working from home. 4 days in the office (Central Coventry) and 1 dday working from home day (if full time) can be offered in this role and flexibility to meet business need is required. Salary Details

The salary is £36,024-£40,521 per annum.

It is usual to start at the bottom of the grade and will increase incrementally on an annual basis. The salary advertised is the full time salary, if the role is taken on a reduced hour basis the salary (and holiday entitlement) will be calculated pro-rata accordingly.
