STUDENT VOICE COORDINATOR – JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Student Voice Coordinator
RESPONSIBLE TO: Student Engagement Manager
CONTRACT: Full time, fixed term for one year
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: Scale 3, Point 1 (£22,816 pa)
PLACE OF WORK: Winchester Student Union, King Alfred Centre (SO22 4NR)
PURPOSE OF THE POST
Working closely with the Union’s Vice President, Education & Welfare and Student Engagement Manager, the primary purpose of the post is to support and enable student voice and representation at Winchester, ensuring that the Student Union is empowering students and student representatives to have a strong voice that shapes the organisation and institution as well as their own educational experience.
A particular focus of the role will be to work closely with the nominated TEF Student Contact at Winchester (Vice President, Education & Welfare) to create the Student Submission for the Teaching Excellence Framework, from the outset of the role until the submission date in early 2023.
This role will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the StARs scheme and also provide support and assistance across the Student Union’s representation and democracy functions, and to help increase student engagement in our democratic processes and wider student voice work, ensuring that our systems and procedures are appropriate and engaging to our membership.
Winchester Student Union believes that students are powerful change agents in shaping their student experience at university and engaging the ‘student voice’ is core to our work on empowering this. Student voice at Winchester Student Union includes but is not limited to: the Student Academic Representatives (StARs) scheme; the TEF Student Submission, our democracy functions including Executive Officer Elections; the National Student Survey (NSS), the Student Union’s annual Big Survey; semesterly Zone meetings; the Annual General Meeting; Student Senate; student representation in meetings groups across the institution; additional student voice and feedback mechanisms embedded across the Union.
