AboutWe’re the Students’ Union for all students at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, no matter where or how they study. As an independent student-led charity, we work with the university to make sure students are being heard. We will speak up for students, stand up for their rights, and empower them to make the most of their time at university. Once enrolled, students are automatically a member of the union; there are no forms to fill in and no fees to pay.
UWTSD Students’ Union is looking to appoint a new Trustee to our Trustee Board to help guide and oversee the development and performance of our organisation.
The Trustee Board exists to make sure that the Students’ Union is running properly, looking after its resources and people and working for the benefit of students at UWTSD. Trustees will join our Board to help guide and shape the work of the organisation, to monitor its performance and legal compliance and help it plan effectively.
The new Trustee will bring new ideas and fresh opinions to Board; in return, they will receive comprehensive training and will have great experience for their CV and future employment interviews. If you are interested in applying please read the role description and personal specification.
“The Board of Trustees has given strong direction during the pandemic. Being clear that the focus must always be on the well-being of the members of the Students’ Union as well as the staff of the Students’ Union. The Board of Trustees has seen a marked improvement in the Students’ Union’s finances, with a strong surplus position. Additionally, the Students’ Union staff team has grown from around 13 to 23 over the last two years with potentially more on the way! At present, the Board boasts a variety of skilled members from higher education experts to previous police officers. We’re looking for another external trustee; one who can further develop our financial capability on the Board.
The Students’ Union has a robust relationship with the University; our student leaders are not shy about telling the university could be improved in the student experience and also not coy with praise for a job well done. The dynamic between the university and Students’ Union only grows stronger as we continue to work together to make every students’ time at UWTSD the best it can.”
Sabbatical Officer, UWTSD Students’ Union.
