What’s the job?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief of Operations to oversee the strategic management of our Commercial Services, Finance Department, HR & Compliance, and Facilities at the Union of Brunel Students. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all services are operated cost-effectively and to the highest standards while maintaining compliance with legal and licensing regulations. You will be responsible for the line management of the Venues General Manager, the Finance department and the HR & Compliance Manager. You will also be responsible for the management of contracts relating to third-party provision of cleaning, security, maintenance, and catering and be the key liaison with the University on all facilities and estates related issues. As the organisational lead on Health & Safety, Risk management and Environmental sustainability, you will ensure the Union is a safe, compliant, and sustainable place for staff and members.

Who you are:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual for the Chief of Operations role. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strategic planning and management of commercial services, finance, and facilities. They should possess strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and develop a diverse team. The candidate should also have a deep understanding of legal and regulatory requirements and be able to ensure compliance across the organisation.

The Chief of Operations will need to be innovative and able to identify new opportunities for income generation while maintaining excellent customer service and operational standards.  The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and project management skills, and a “can do” attitude. They should also have the ability to train and develop staff and show a successful approach to business planning.
