We are seeking a new Trustee to join our Board. We’re looking for an independently minded person who can offer insight and leadership scrutinize our work and champion what we do.
What does a Trustee do?
Trustees are responsible for setting the Charity’s strategy, managing risk, ensuring we are working within our values and fulfilling our Charitable objects. As an Independent Trustee you’ll bring a strong independent mindset to ensure all decisions are in the best interest of the Charity and its beneficiaries.
As a trustee you’ll attend board meetings, scrutinise performance, feed into strategy for the Charity and review finances. Trustees usually also serve on at least one subcommittee. You’ll be working with fellow Trustees on our three priorities to build SU faith in NUS Charity, make NUS Charity sustainable and deliver on our promises.
Why volunteer with NUS Charity?
This is a really exciting time to join the Charity’s Board. Put simply, as a trustee you get to be at the heart of this work, supporting staff and officers and actively shaping an exciting programme of charitable work. It’s an opportunity to hone your skills, meet new people and learn more about the fantastic work of our wonderful Students’ Union members.
We’ll give you a full induction, support you as a Trustee and pay all reasonable out of pocket expenses.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking Trustees who can be excellent custodians of our reputation, finances, and legal responsibilities. As a Trustee you’ll be an active listener, someone who can interact with a range of stakeholders, holding to account and getting your point across with tact and clarity. We’re looking for people who actively live our values to be inclusive, collaborative and anti-oppression in everything we do.
We’re totally committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation. We particularly welcome applications from black, asian and minority ethnic candidates, as they are currently under-represented as Trustees of NUS Charity and within the charity sector more broadly.
