AboutSunderland Students’ Union is an Education charity, dedicated to making the University experience of our members valuable for life. Every student registered on a course with the University of Sunderland is a member and we represent students’ interests in all areas of their University experience. This includes everything from representing students’ academic interests to offering welfare advice and support, from organising fun social activities to help build social capital to helping students to make a positive impact on the city of Sunderland. Our objectives are: YOUR Voice YOUR Course and YOU YOUR Place
Within this role you will provide advice and guidance to students on areas including academic issues, wellbeing, and general support with a focus on empowering and enabling students to manage their own situations with clarity and confidence. Through contact with students and stakeholders you will maintain a broad view of the issues impacting students and use this to shape proactive approaches to common issues. This may include, but is not limited to developing awareness raising programmes, working collaboratively with the President: Education and influencing key stakeholders in the University. You will be a central member of the Student Engagement department with strong links into the Student Voice team.
The Students’ Union advice and guidance provision is entering into an exciting phase of review and the Senior Student Advisor will play a pivotal role in this in collaboration with the Head of Student Engagement and London Manager to plan, deliver and evaluate progress over the 2022/23 academic year.
