About'Here at Solent Students’ Union we pride ourselves on being student run, student led. This means everything we do is for the benefit of our students. We are dedicated to supporting our students both academically and non-academically, and we work hard to ensure our students have the best experience possible during their time with us. We also like to have fun, in the past we have held Puppy Rooms during exam periods, and we recently organised a staff bake off! Being located in the city centre we are ideally located close to pretty much anything, including a variety of clubs, restaurants and leisure activities.'
No Ordinary Charity
Students’ Unions are exciting and interesting places to be a trustee. There’s one in almost every UK University, and if leading an organisation which is membership driven, political, vibrant and full of young people who are working hard to deliver change for their members is something that appeals to you then you should consider becoming a trustee in one.
No Ordinary Role
As a trustee you’ll have legal responsibility for the Students’ Union charity, ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. To do this, you use your personal skills and experience as needed to ensure that the charity is well-run and efficient.
The external Trustees are recruited for their skills, Knowledge and experience in order to support and guide the elected officers and student trustees. We aim to have a balance of skills to ensure the Board has some expertise in all relevant areas and are looking to recruit professionals with a background in Marketing & Communications (with expertise in digital and social media).
A Simple Process
We know you’re busy. At this stage all we need from you is a copy of your CV. If your skills and knowledge match our gaps, we’ll then be in touch to arrange an introduction or discussion so you can find out more.
