Harper Adams Students’ Union is a £1.2m turnover independent charity that works to support the students of Harper Adams University. We empower students, represent their voice and deliver a range of engaging sports clubs, societies and social events.
We have 7 staff, 2 sabbatical officers and a team of tireless student staff & volunteers who support our work. Unlike most students’ unions, we generate almost all of our own income from our commercial services, events, clubs and societies. The flipside to our lean team and commercial achievements is the need to further enhance the power of student voice and develop the range of supportive services that many other students’ unions provide to their students. It’s an exciting time at HASU, with a broadly new team, new leadership at the university, the finishing touches being added to our strategic plan and a sense of real change and excitement on campus.
You will have the opportunity to help us deliver our new strategy, which will see us enhance our services and offer to students. You’ll provide us with expertise to make us more resilliant and ensure we’re ambitious and reach our targets.
We are open-minded about the background you might have although we would especially welcome people who have experience in charities, governance or expertise in EDI.
We are open to you being a first-time Trustee if you are excited by our mission.
The pandemic has seen us become more open to technology and we’ve committed to hosting meetings digitally as well as on campus so we’d welcome applications from people anywhere in the UK.
Our board is not as diverse and representative as our student population is likely to be in future years, and we want to change this, so welcome applications from candidates from underrepresented groups.
If you are inspired by the role, contact the Union Director Liam Davis on [email protected]
Shortlisting and interviews will be conducted by the Deputy Chair of the Board and the Students’ Union President
Closing date for applications is: 17th April 2023
Shortlisting 21st April
Interviews to be conducted via Microsoft Teams on 28th April
