The University of Nottingham Students’ Union exists to enable every student at the University of Nottingham to fulfil their potential, meet their aspirations and to have the most incredible time at University. Formally, we are a registered charity that acts as the recognised representative body of all students at the University, and every student is automatically a member free of charge. We support students to share and air their views on academic life and the wider University experience. The Union provides a huge range of social, cultural, sporting and recreational activities, including forums for discussions and debates, and opportunities for their personal development.

Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience of developing opportunities for increasing engagement and providing support and guidance to student-led volunteering groups and activities. Experience in facilitating student led activities to enhance community social cohesion will be an advantage as well as experience of working with external bodies and developing and delivering training to enhance the knowledge and skills to successfully promote mental and physical wellbeing.

Job Description

The Student Communities Coordinator for Community Building builds and facilitates student communities, whilst increasing participation from under-represented and disadvantaged groups to build a sense of belonging and promote mental and physical wellbeing. The role empowers students to develop and create communities, projects and initiatives and will support on volunteer and community group management for larger student led projects and programmes such as our Welcome Programme and Global buddies.
