About us We are an independent charity that exists to represent the needs and views of all 37,000 plus students at Manchester Metropolitan University. There has been a Students’ Union for what we now call Manchester Metropolitan University since the 1920s. Over the last one hundred years, the role of The Union and the part it plays in student education and wellbeing has grown and developed into the organisation we are today. Students are at the heart of what we do.

Job Description

Who are we?

Located in the heart of Manchester, The Union is part business, part charity, part membership body. Operating independently from Manchester Metropolitan University, our aim is to support and represent each one of our student members. Each year our growing team of over 60 full time and up to 150 part time staff, work alongside elected student leaders to make change, improve lives and help fulfil student potential.

 

Winner of the 2021 Think Student award for the best campaign supporting diversity, The Union is one of 550 students’ unions across the country. And we’re one of the most exciting – with over 38,000 student members and 100 student groups, a huge range of services and a bold strategy.

 

What’s the job?

Working within The Union’s Marketing and Communications team, you’ll devise and deliver tactical marcomms and sales promotion campaigns and activities for union services, events & projects. This role is perfect for someone with previous experience of marketing projects and campaigns including contributing to planning, delivery and review. You will also develop creative and effective responses to marketing briefs – consistently striving to find resource-appropriate and innovative solutions to problems.

 

What are we looking for?

Someone with a good working knowledge of digital marketing channels and platforms. You will be organised, happy to experiment and have an excellent eye for detail. You will use your experience working with websites and digital platforms to ensure high levels of engagement and channel growth.

 

A team orientated person who can build relationships and work successfully with people at all levels. You will work closely with staff across The Union and University and coordinate and/or provide marketing support for union projects throughout the student lifecycle, working with union staff & department heads, elected officers, union-affiliated student groups and external partners as appropriate.
