AboutPart political, part business and part charity – NUS (National Union of Students) is a third sector membership organisation with a twist! Our Vision is of NUS as a pioneering, innovative and powerful campaigning organisation: the definitive national voice of students. We will fight barriers to education, empower students to shape both a quality learning experience and the world around them, supporting influential, democratic and well-resourced students’ unions. Our professional team of over 100 creative NUS colleagues work together every day to support elected student leaders - as they make change in the world and improve the lives of students - we help make it happen!
This is a role managing NUS’ campaigning, press, communications and influencing across our liberation work. Liberation in NUS is focused on ending the oppression of Black students, LGBT+ students, trans students, disabled students and women. You’ll be working with partners across education, liberation and beyond. Our priorities are set by students via our democracy. Often, we’ll be a decade ahead of the curve on liberation matters so prepare to push the envelope on concepts that are often new and challenging.
We aim to practice what we preach so we’re happy to offer and flexible person-centered working environment with a great benefits package.
This role is available primarily at our headquarters in Macclesfield. We’ll also consider applicants wishing to work out of our other offices in Edinburgh or Cardiff as well as home workers.
We’re see anti-oppression as central to our mission. Education isn’t working unless it’s working for everyone in our society. We’re trans inclusive without exception. And we welcome individuals who are up for taking active responsibility for their own ongoing learning on liberation, equity, diversity and inclusion.
