Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as Student Activities Coordinator!

Student Activities covers a wide range of student societies and student media groups and the Student Activities Coordinator plays a crucial part in how LMSU supports students to get involved in the many Student Groups that already exist and to create new groups that provide even more opportunities for students to come together, make new friends and do something they’re passionate about.

The Student Activities Coordinator coordinates all aspects of Student Activities within the Students’ Union, ensuring that all activities are in line with LMSU policies and procedures and that student group leaders and members engaging with our student groups receive a high quality service.  As Student Activities Coordinator you will train, support and empower student group leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the information, skills and resources needed to run their groups effectively; promote opportunities to set up and join student groups among the wider student body, contributing positively to the experiences of students at London Met and increasing engagement with the Students’ Union; and develop Student Activities in line with best practice and student needs.

This role would suit you if you are passionate about helping students to explore new interests and meet new people and have an understanding and appreciation of diversity and a commitment to promoting inclusivity.  You will need to have excellent customer service, communication and organisational skills; be self-motivated and self-reliant, able to respond positively to challenging situations and solve problems; work well both independently and as part of a team; have excellent attention to detail and good IT skills; and possess a coaching style of support that motivates, facilitates and guides others to enable their development.  You will also have experience of providing effective operational and administrative support; monitoring and managing  budgets; working in successful partnerships with a range of stakeholders;  coordinating activities and  events, particularly in regard to health and  safety considerations; working with and motivating volunteers; developing and delivering  training and support for individuals and groups; and coordinating multiple projects and tasks, delivering within budget and to agreed deadlines.

This is a permanent full-time position offering a salary of £27,214 – £29,177 per-annum (including London Weighting).
