Summary

We are looking for someone to join our Communications Team to help and enable us to be more evidence-led. The role will work closely with all staff in the Union, including working closely with our Sabbatical Officers to ensure they are equipped to present accurate, up to date evidence of changes and activity that needs to take place.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The post will coordinate, develop and deliver membership research and insight activity across the organisation. They will also support and deliver the collection, analysis and dissemination of student feedback through reports, policy papers and Sabbatical Officer support.

1. To coordinate, develop and deliver membership research and insight activity across the organisation.

  • To develop and work across the Union to effectively deliver a research and insight plan.
  • To lead our ‘Student Check-In’ insight project.
  • To develop and organise a regular ‘Question of the Month’ or similar project to support the ongoing collection of student feedback.
  • To deliver high-quality relevant qualitative and quantitative research in accordance with the Unions mission, vision and values.
  • To support a range of feedback projects, working with students, staff and the Executive Officer team.
  • To maintain a good awareness of GDPR legislation to ensure compliance in all areas of research and wider insight communications.

2. To support and deliver the collection, analysis and dissemination of student feedback through reports, policy papers and Sabbatical Officer Support.

  • To monitor and develop membership and data collection systems.
  • To ensure the organisation of demographic, Department and School specific focus groups to enable the Union to understand and act upon specific issues.
  • To gather and interpret secondary research at a national and local level to inform campaigns, policy and membership offering.
  • To work closely with the Advice and Representation Teams to ensure reporting of trends to inform both academic and social policy changes.
  • To work closely with the Communities & Events and Representation Teams to ensure reporting of academic and non-academic student feedback to inform change.
  • To provide administrative support to any other Communications Team activity as required.

3. To contribute to organisational strategic and operational planning by ensuring departments across the Union understand available and relevant insight.

  • To develop, deliver and aid effective insight tools for use across the organisation (eg. Surveys and any other form of student and staff feedback).
  • Analyse and present findings of routine and one-off research projects in an engaging manner to support staff and Officers to provide development insight.
  • To ensure appropriate and ethical data insight reporting for staff to drive activity and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators.
  • To work closely with key University departments to deliver annual engagement and satisfaction survey for students.
  • To work closely with the Head of Communications & Business Development to ensure reporting on trends to inform business and communications planning to include; integration of data tracking methods, website/digital analytical reporting and membership dashboards.
  • To work closely with the Union Senior Leadership Team, advising on relevant data insight work to guide decision-making.
  • To make recommendations a cross the Union for improvements to activity following research outcomes.
