The Role
We are excited to be recruiting for the role of Student Advisor. In this role you will deliver high-quality advice to our student members when they need it most, by providing information, advice, wellbeing support and guidance. You will also work collaboratively with both colleagues and student leaders to identify and recommend solutions to issues and concerns affecting the wider student body, empowering students to shape their academic experience.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations in a calm and empathetic way. You’ll also have some experience of providing advice and managing casework, including keeping accurate and confidential records, and will be skilled in managing a caseload and effectively prioritising your work.
We are looking for someone who can work within a fast paced, dynamic and exciting organisation and who has knowledge and understanding of the current issues and themes within higher education and the impact these have on students. The ideal candidate will be able to create, build and maintain strong working relationships with an empathetic and approachable manner.
This is a part-time role with a FTE salary of £26,650 therefore for 21 hours per week (0.6) the salary will be £15,990 per year.
This is an exciting time to join UKS as we have just confirmed we will be moving into a brand-new Union space on campus in the summer 2024. We provide sport and societies for students, skills development workshops, academic advice support, sustainability opportunities, student staff roles and events at our new retail outlet (Not My Beautiful House) that houses and sells student products and projects.
