AboutWe make sure our students’ interests are at the heart of University policy and decisions. We communicate to the senior leadership team on their behalf, and feed back our progress to them. We want to make sure that we give students opportunities to shape their own student experience. This means supporting them in creating clubs and societies, training student leaders and delivering a range of activities ourselves. We think it's important to support students in every positive way possible, and that means running campaigns and raising awareness about issues that matter to our members. Should additional support be needed, we signpost to the wider Student Experience team at the University.
The primary purpose of this position is to create an equitable experience for University of Buckingham students who study on the Crewe Campus. Providing advice, support and guidance for them that will further their educational journey. The postholder will be the main point of contact on a day-to-day basis linking the joint venture company (ABHSC), university staff on the site and the SU team in Buckingham. You will be expected to provide high quality support to elected student leaders and champion the voice of the students in conversations and committees involving others. When required you will also act as the main contact for Buckingham based staff, in the Student Support Services team, for Crewe related queries and provide support and guidance for their roles in respect to Crewe.
The successful applicant should have experience in a membership-based organisation or the HE/FE sector. You should have good knowledge of the trends and interests that influence students in higher education and be able to apply this to provide high quality services that meet their demands. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the experience and skills required to build relationships with multiple stakeholders and utilise various communication styles to engage staff, students and externals in our on-campus provision. Local knowledge and networks would be an advantage but is not required.
We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they think they can’t tick every box, but we are invested in our people and their development, so we encourage you to apply if you believe you have the majority of the skills and experience required and are keen to develop further!
