About

Part political, part business and part charity – NUS (National Union of Students) is a third sector membership organisation with a twist! Our Vision is of NUS as a pioneering, innovative and powerful campaigning organisation: the definitive national voice of students. We will fight barriers to education, empower students to shape both a quality learning experience and the world around them, supporting influential, democratic and well-resourced students’ unions. Our professional team of over 100 creative NUS colleagues work together every day to support elected student leaders - as they make change in the world and improve the lives of students - we help make it happen!

Summary

Politics and power is changing. And so are we. We’re looking for an experienced campaigning leader with a track record of winning and innovating. Working with elected student leaders, you’ll lead the reinvention of NUS’ campaigning practice in Wales. You’ll have the skill and drive to build a modern mass-engagement movement of students supported by a far reaching digital strategy and a ground force of organized student activists. You’ll also shape the political agenda itself, identifying key issues and generating transformational solutions that sit at the heart of our campaigning. You’ll be someone able to influence at a personal level as well as at societal level.

Job Description

This is a role overseeing NUS’ campaigning, press, communications and influencing in Wales. You’ll be working closely with members of the Welsh Senedd, its government, public sector bodies and civil servants. NUS works across a wide range of issues and our priorities are set by students via our democracy. You’ll be working on further and higher education matters for sure as well as student welfare issues like housing, healthcare, and mental wellbeing. You’ll also be working on social policy issues including climate change and liberation for women, black students, LGBT+ students, trans students and disabled students.

NUS is a confederation of 600 students’ unions representing over 7m students and apprentices across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales. In Wales, there are 20 students’ unions representing more than 300,000 students, learners and apprentices. We’re 98 years old and are looking forward to celebrating our centenary having successfully established ourselves at the cutting edge of social change. The student movement is fast-paced and sometimes challenging, but we’re also a big family who support each other.

We aim to practice what we preach so we’re happy to offer a flexible person-centered working environment with a great benefits package.

This role is available primarily at our office in Cardiff. We’ll also consider applicants wishing to work as home workers.

We see anti-oppression as central to our mission. Education isn’t working unless it’s working for everyone in our society. We’re trans inclusive without exception. And we welcome individuals who are up for taking active responsibility for their own ongoing learning on liberation, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Application deadline: 11:49 on Monday 13 April

Proposed Interview date via Skype: Monday 27 April

Cyfarwyddwr Ymgyrchoedd Cymru

Rhan-amser, 21 Awr yr Wythnos

Mae gwleidyddiaeth a phŵer yn newid. Ac rydyn ni’n newid hefyd. Rydym yn chwilio am arweinydd ymgyrchu profiadol sydd â hanes o ennill ac arloesi. Gan weithio gydag arweinwyr myfyrwyr etholedig, byddwch yn arwain y gwaith o ailddyfeisio arferion ymgyrchu UCM yng Nghymru. Byddwch yn meddu ar y sgiliau a’r awydd i adeiladu mudiad ymgysylltu torfol modern o fyfyrwyr sy’n seiliedig ar strategaeth ddigidol bellgyrhaeddol a llu o fyfyrwyr ar lawr gwlad sy’n barod i fynd ati i ymgyrchu. Byddwch hefyd yn llunio’r agenda wleidyddol ei hun, gan ddynodi materion allweddol a chreu datrysiadau trawsnewidiol sydd wrth wraidd ein hymgyrchu. Byddwch chi’n rhywun sy’n gallu dylanwadu ar lefel bersonol yn ogystal ag ar lefel gymdeithasol.

Mae hon yn rôl sy’n goruchwylio ymgyrchoedd, gwaith gyda’r wasg, cyfathrebu a dylanwadu UCM yng Nghymru. Byddwch yn gweithio’n agos gydag aelodau Senedd Cymru, Llywodraeth Cymru, cyrff y sector cyhoeddus a gweision sifil. Mae UCM yn gweithio ar draws ystod eang o faterion, ac mae ein blaenoriaethau’n cael eu gosod gan fyfyrwyr drwy ein democratiaeth. Byddwch yn gweithio ar faterion addysg bellach ac addysg uwch yn sicr, yn ogystal â materion lles myfyrwyr fel tai, gofal iechyd, a llesiant meddyliol. Byddwch hefyd yn gweithio ar faterion polisi cymdeithasol gan gynnwys newid yn yr hinsawdd a rhyddhad menywod, myfyrwyr croenddu, myfyrwyr LHDT+, myfyrwyr traws, myfyrwyr anabl a myfyrwyr Cymraeg eu hiaith.

Mae UCM yn gydffederasiwn o 600 o undebau myfyrwyr sy’n cynrychioli dros 7m o fyfyrwyr a phrentisiaid ledled yr Alban, Lloegr, Gogledd Iwerddon a Chymru. Yng Nghymru, mae yna 20 o undebau myfyrwyr yn cynrychioli mwy na 300,000 o fyfyrwyr, dysgwyr a phrentisiaid. Rydym yn 98 oed ac yn edrych ymlaen at ddathlu ein canmlwyddiant ar ôl sefydlu ein hunain yn llwyddiannus ar flaen y gad o ran newid cymdeithasol. Mae mudiad y myfyrwyr yn gallu symud yn gyflym ac mae weithiau’n heriol, ond rydyn ni hefyd yn deulu mawr sy’n cefnogi ein gilydd.

Ein nod yw gweithredu’r hyn rydyn ni’n ei bregethu, fel ein bod ni’n hapus i gynnig amgylchedd gwaith hyblyg sy’n canolbwyntio ar yr unigolyn gyda phecyn buddion gwych.

Mae’r rôl hon wedi’i lleoli’n bennaf yn ein swyddfa yng Nghaerdydd. Byddwn hefyd yn ystyried ymgeiswyr sy’n dymuno gweithio o gartref.

Rydym yn ystyried bod gwrthwynebu gormes yn ganolog i’n cenhadaeth. Nid yw addysg yn gweithio oni bai ei bod yn gweithio i bawb yn ein cymdeithas. Rydym yn gynhwysol i bobl draws heb unrhyw eithriad. Ac rydym yn croesawu unigolion sydd am gymryd cyfrifoldeb gweithredol dros eu dysgu parhaus eu hunain am ryddhad, cydraddoldeb, amrywioldeb a chynhwysiant.
