Information about the post
The Student Activities Department is at the heart of Kent Union offering a wide range of opportunities, from joining a sports club or society to volunteering or fundraising. We currently have over 200 student-led sports clubs and societies with over 7,000 members which offer something for everyone, from competing in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) league to learning about new faiths or cultures.
The post holder will have a central role within the team with a responsibility for coaching, empowering and supporting our 55 sports clubs with the coordination of their activities. This will include overseeing the weekly British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) fixtures, acting as a day to day contact for queries and providing developmental support to clubs, ensuring a high quality experience for members. The role will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of key events throughout the year such as varsity, tour and our annual sports awards. As part of the Kent Union strategic plan we are looking to increase the number of students involved in union life and improve the quality of experience we are offering, therefore it’s an exciting time to be joining the team.
This is a varied and exciting role and one that is incredibly rewarding. We are looking for a team player who has experience of working with, empowering and supporting volunteers. The post holder should be an effective communicator and be able to plan and prioritise their workload to be able to meet the demands of the role.
