AboutCambridge University Students' Union (CUSU) is the university-wide representative body of all 21,000+ students within the University of Cambridge and its Colleges. The aims of the Students’ Union are to support and advance the educational, social and cultural experience of its members, alongside supporting the welfare of its members, promoting equal opportunities within the University, and encouraging equal access to Cambridge for applicants, both through schemes aimed at those from non-traditional backgrounds and our representational work in the University. CUSU is a registered charity; it is a federal body made up of individual College student unions (known as JCRs and MCRs).
The Union has been on a long journey of improvement; student leaders, staff and trustees at the union feel the Union has matured in recent years into a powerful agitator for change at the historic institution. Our new CEO will champion this appetite for change across the charity and among our most important stakeholders, and will continue to grow the Union’s potential to match the big ambitions of, and issues important to, our students.
The CEO will provide focused, determined and disciplined execution of our bold strategic plan, and successfully sustain the momentum in the student-led charity through engagement from elected officials and our committed staff team.
The Chief Executive Officer develops and leads on the direction, strategy and operational performance of the Students’ Union (including financial performance), meeting the needs of its diverse membership, internal and external stakeholders. Alongside these strategic leadership responsibilities, the role ensures that the Union’s core values and student-led agendas are realised through effective and efficient management of its resources. The role is the senior staff role at the charity and is principal advisor to the students’ union’s elected officers and Board of Trustees.
