AboutBristol Students’ Union is a membership organisation democratically led by students and supported by a team of staff. We have an ambitious new strategy which seeks to build students’ pride in their union while ensuring they are well represented, that they have opportunities to develop, and that they have a great social life while they are in Bristol. Bristol SU is here to help create the best student life, develop new skills, meet new people and have a lot of fun in the process. We do this through supporting student clubs and societies, effective representation, fun and exciting events and employment opportunities, as well as much, much more!
Director of Impact & Influence | Bristol SU
Richmond Building, 105 Queens Road, Bristol, BS8 1LN. Flexible and part home working considered.
£45,583 – £53,066 per annum + excellent benefits.
Bristol SU has been at the heart of student life for over 100 years, we are part business, part charity, part membership body – and a seriously fun and empowering place to work.
Bristol SU is recognised through numerous accreditations and awards including Investors in People, Inclusive Companies and more. We are proud that 93% of our employees would recommend us as a good place work.
Our professional staff do something extraordinary every day. We support student leaders to give people a voice in their education, help people get the most out of their student experience and help people make the change they want in the world.
We are looking for someone to lead, inspire and enhance Bristol SU’s Student Voice activity to ensure maximum impact for students.
As a member of the senior management team and leader of a directorate, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering outstanding services through a team of dedicated staff and by collaborating with passionate student leaders.
You will also play a critical role in taking the insight collected from our democratic functions and using it to influence key partners that can achieve positive results for students.
We are proud to have Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity as one of our core values, and are committed to challenging injustice, supporting others to overcome systemic barriers and seek to open access to all of our student members. We expect that you will share our values.
In recent years we have had successful women and ethnic minority leaders in key senior leadership positions, and they have progressed onto exciting new opportunities. Our senior team isn’t as representative as it once was and we want to address this. We welcome all applications but would love to encourage women and people from ethnic minorities to consider this opportunity.
There is no expectation that you will have worked with students before, and we will consider the transferable skills that can be offered. We are also open-minded to flexible working and part-time working requests. If there is any other barrier that you feel prevents you from considering this opportunity, please get in touch to discuss it, see application instructions.
