About

The University of Birmingham Guild of Students is a charity and the students’ union for more than 36,000 students. We represent our members to the University and other organisations on the issues that matter to students most. We also exist to help students develop skills outside of study, have fun, meet people and make sure their time at Birmingham is special.

Summary

As part of the delivery of our new 2022-2027 strategic plan, the Guild of Students has recently established a new Engagement Committee, reporting into our charity Trustee Board, to oversee our Student Engagement strategy and delivery for the organisation. We’re currently searching to two independent members to join the committee on a voluntary basis who have senior experience in the Student Engagement space, who can add value to the Committee by advising us on  delivery of our new strategic objectives and review long-term plans and resource allocation across all staff teams. Closing Date: Monday 10th October 2022.

Job Description

The purpose of the Engagement Committee is to ensure that the Guild meets its first object of ‘The promotion of social intercourse between students of the University of Birmingham and the furtherance of the common interests of such Students’ via oversight of the Guild’s student-facing engagement departments and workflows. The Committee will receive regular reports on current and proposed engagement activity and provide direction to the Guild’s engagement efforts, in-line with the Guild’s strategic plan. The members of the Committee are required to review and consider appropriate methods of overseeing the Guild’s engagement activities.
