Following a move to a brand new students’ union space, burgeoning relationships with the University and the appointment of a new Union Director, we are building on our recent achievements with the introduction of a Student Voice & Advice Department.
This department will ensure that as our engagement continues to grow, we continue to offer outstanding, professional support to our Student Officers and Academic Reps, along with expert academic advice and support to our members.
We are looking for and outstanding individual to join us as an Academic Adviser to play a key part of this new team. This role is fixed term for 18 months, with a view to becoming permanent. It would be an ideal role for someone wishing to enter a career in Students’ Unions or looking to take a next step where they will have the freedom and support to make a real difference right from the start.
Role Summary
As a key member of the Student Voice & Advice Department at Newman Students’ Union, the Academic Adviser will provide high quality, independent advice to Newman students on a range of issues that may affect their academic progress and experience of University. They will support the elected Officers in their campaigning around academic and welfare matters, as well as the outreach work of the Union in promoting the range of support that it provides for its members.
Working as a team with the Student Voice & Governance Co-ordinator, the Academic Adviser will have the opportunity to shape this new department and deliver timely and meaningful campaigns and initiatives that have a positive impact on student experience.
