We are currently developing a new long term strategy which will set out how the Students’ Union will meet the challenges faced by our members and provide them with the best possible representation of their needs.

We are based on the University of Surrey campus in Guildford. As a charity and student-led organisation we are focused on ensuring that our members receive the very best experience whilst at the University of Surrey and that they are equipped for their futures after they leave us.

We provide support for a diverse student body and ensure that their interests are well-represented within the wider University community and nationally. We are looking for an External Trustee to join our Board of Trustees and provide us with insight and expertise as we begin this new strategic period.

We are looking for an individual who really wants to make a difference and is prepared to give us some of their time, experience and knowledge to help others. We are keen to build on the diversity work undertaken by our elected Officer team and to take this forward to every part of the

The Board of Trustees is ultimately responsible for making major decisions as to how the operates. The Board is comprised of elected Sabbatical Officers, students and external trustees – all bringing different types of skills, experience and expertise to the role. As a voluntary position being a trustee involves attending at least four board meetings each year, including some preparation time before each meeting. It also includes attending some internal committee meetings which are sub-committees to the Board. Our Trustees are an extremely important part of our governance and play an integral role in the development of the Union. Ideally the successful candidate will join us in Spring 2023.

The Union is committed to supporting inclusion and diversity in the workplace and everyone is welcome and supported in their development throughout all stages of their journey with us.
